ComAp provided a flexible, user-friendly and cost-effective hybrid controls package that alleviated problems we were facing with the integration of high penetration solar PV and battery storage into the Mayreau power system. The performance of their solution has far exceeded our expectations.

The InteliGen 1000 gave us the power we needed to run a power management application for backup power for a hospital in the Midlands. The pre-programmed functions allowed us to put the engine into operation very quickly and the large in-built PLC interpreter allowed us to implement the specific customer requirements easily and quickly on our own. Cyber security, redundancy options, and G99 readiness were the main attributes for selecting this controller.

Small run-of-river hydroelectric plants pose a great challenge in terms of control for turbine manufacturers. What is needed is a control system that guarantees robustness, that can be simply and quickly replicated in plants of the same type, and above all that has the right degree of customisation to allow the manufacturer to meet the end customer’s needs. With ComAp we have managed to find all this and thanks to a close dialogue right from the early stages of the project and the great technical ability demonstrated we managed to hit the target at the first attempt. The ComAp CHP control system was a clear choice for us. As far as control is concerned, we know this system perfectly. ComAp’s hybrid control system enables the integration of diesel gensets and PV with a high level of flexibility and control. The ComAp’s commissioning engineer was knowledgeable and helpful and the WebSupervisor portal offers a good level of remote monitoring.

Utilising natural gas as a replacement fuel for diesel was found to be the ideal alternative mainly for mining trucks, which represent the biggest portion of overall costs for our customers. ComAp’s bi-fuel technology was chosen due to its excellent performance, engine protection, durability and flexibility in adapting their system to our needs.

We have started to use ComAp products because they are user-friendly and easy to modify for our purposes. Most importantly, they last well in very harsh environments.
